What are Bathroom Locks?

Bathroom locks are locks which are specifically designed for bathrooms. They consist of a thumbturn on one side which is used to lock and unlock the door via a thumbturn spindle within the handle, with a coin and release thumbturn on the opposite side which allows the door to be unlocked with a coin in an emergency.

Our bathroom on backplate lever sets are equipped with a fixed thumbturn, whereas our door knobs and lever on rose handles are not, meaning you'll need to purchase a thumbturn separately.

Components Explained

Unsprung Knob Set - all of our door knob sets are unsprung. This means they don't contain a spring mechanism and must be used in conjunction with a heavy duty lock or latch which is strong enough to return the knob to its original position.

Heavy Duty Sash Lock - this type of lock is specifically designed to be used with any of our unsprung knob sets or lever handles. It contains a powerful spring mechanism which can be used to return the handle to its original position. This type of lock is mortised into the door and secured in place with wood screw fixings.

Thumbturn Spindle - a standard 5mm spindle designed specifically for use with our thumbturns. The spindle gives the thumbturn its turning functionality.

Threaded Spindle - our standard threaded spindles are designed for use with our knob sets. Due to the length of the spindle, these products can only be used on doors with a maximum thickness of 44mm. If you want to use this set on a thicker door, please contact us and we can provide you with a longer spindle.

Receiver Plate - this small plate is fitted to the door frame and screw fixed in to provide a slot for the sash lock to sit in.

Wood Screw Fixings - these are supplied with many of our products to enable you to fit your products in place.
