How Burnished Brass is Made

This finish begins with the finest brass which is an alloy formed from zinc and copper. We refer to this combination as non-ferrous because it doesn’t contain iron, meaning it won’t rust upon exposure to the elements, giving it suitability for both internal and external usage.

The brass is formed into shape and guided through a carefully controlled ageing process which accelerates the development of the natural patina to create rich, dark tones across the surface. A barrelling machine is used to create the distinctive burnished effect before each piece is sealed with a high-quality, clear, matt lacquer which protects the finish for years to come.

Styling with Burnished Brass

Burnished Brass was designed with versatility in mind. Its expressive and charming appearance make it an ideal choice for all manner of colours and styles.
In classic country kitchens, Burnished Brass cabinet knobs and drawer pulls pair beautifully with natural materials including oak, slate and linen, and come to life against green accents and soft lighting.

In more contemporary settings, Burnished Brass offers a more dramatic impact, particularly when partnered with dark palettes of grey, black, or deep umber.

Whatever the backdrop, Burnished Brass adds a refined, grounding presence.

Caring for Burnished Brass

While the high-quality matt lacquer of this finish serves to protect the products, there are several steps you can take to further preserve the integrity of your hardware.
When cleaning please avoid harsh chemicals or abrasives; a soft microfibre cloth and a gentle application of our Maintenance Wax will easily cleanse the surface.

To ensure smooth operation throughout your products lifespan, we suggest regularly oiling all moving parts with From The Anvil's 3-in-1 oil. This step will prevent stiffness and is highly recommended during initial installation of your product.
