Avril is a skilled gardener with a wealth of experience in floristry which she pairs with her keen eye for design. From The Anvil visited her at her studio in Shropshire, where she carefully curated pieces to complement the shape and finish of each plant pot and vase.

Avril started with the Marine 316 Stainless Steel Newlyn pots. To highlight their symmetrical shape and tapered base, these pots were filled with tall, slender Narcissus flowers surrounded by textured green fir. Shades of green and pale yellow were selected to complement the cool undertones of the Satin and Polished Marine 316 Stainless Steel.

When styling the curved Hepworth pots, Avril opted for larger, statement pieces. In a 28cm Satin Stainless Steel Hepworth pot, she added a deep green Camellia plant with bright pink flowers. This contrasted brilliantly with the matt finish of the Satin Stainless Steel.

In the smaller Hepworth pots, Avril used a mixture of purple and white Hyacinths finished with a layer of moss to protect the arrangements. This colour combination worked beautifully with the Polished Stainless Steel Hepworth pots which mirror their surroundings with a depth of reflection.

The Flora plant pots feature reflective qualities in Smooth Brass, Copper, and Nickel finishes. For the Smooth Copper Flora plant pots, bright and bold florals were used to accentuate the warm undertones of the copper. This brought a bright and cheery feel to the arrangement, instantly livening up any space.

Avril created cascading bouquets which draped over the scalloped edges of the Flora pots, but the more slender shape of the Flora vases lend themselves to taller structures. With these, Avril experimented with long, curved branches connected to pearlescent seed pods. The iridescent qualities of these seed pods paired with the shine of our Smooth Brass Flora vase made a mesmerising centre piece, ideal for creating a statement in any home.

Avril used a similar technique to style the large Marine Stainless Steel Flora plant pots. Using giant dried seed pods intertwined with delicate purple flowers, she created an impressive exhibition of floristry held in place by a Satin Stainless Steel Flora pot.
