The Hinton Collection is one of From The Anvil's most classic designs, inspired by the Georgian Era. In this blog, we'll explore the history behind the design, take a closer look at the Period finishes, and explain how to style the Hinton Collection in your home.

A History of the Georgian Era

The Georgian Era refers to a period in British history between 1714 and 1837 AD. The Georgian Era was named after the lineage of kings from the House of Hanover; king George I, George II, George III and George IV.

Following the Industrial Revolution at the beginning of the era, the lives of the British people were rapidly transformed. New technologies like steam powered transport and mass production gave people more time, which they used to develop exquisite art and literature in new and Romantic styles.

Georgian interior design is characterised by ornate detailing and symmetrical designs - this is what led From The Anvil to develop their Hinton Collection.

Why Choose Hinton Hardware?

From The Anvil's Hinton collection features a beautiful Reeded pattern which echoes classic Georgian design. Not only is this engraving pleasing aesthetically, it also adds to the ergonomic value of the hardware, creating a tactile surface which can be easily gripped. The tapered shape of each Hinton product adds further dynamic interest to the design.

The Hinton Collection is available in all of From The Anvil's classic finishes, including Aged Bronze, Aged Brass, Polished Bronze, Polished Chrome, and Polished Nickel. Hardware forged from solid brass or bronze is typical of the Georgian Era, serving as a symbol of wealth and opulence. These finishes are also incredibly durable and hardwearing, which makes them ideal for both internal and external use.

From The Anvil's Hinton Collection spans across a range of door and window hardware, as well as fireside companion sets, enabling complete coordination throughout your home.

How to Style the Hinton Collection

As a Georgian-inspired design, it's only natural that the Hinton Collection is best suited to Period properties. For a traditional look, we would advise using Aged Brass  - because this is a living finish, it will continue to darken and develop a patina over time, offering a wealth of character. Aged Brass is best complemented by rich green, whereas Aged Bronze will be emphasised by neutral colours like tan and stone.

Style with decorative features in your home such as panelling, beading, ornate picture frames and tasteful art. Try pairing with From The Anvil's Beehive cabinet knobs which feature a similar, but more concentric, reeded design.

For a more contemporary look, we recommend selecting Hinton hardware in bright Polished Nickel or Polished Chrome. The modern qualities of these finishes juxtapose the historic Hinton design, bringing balance to any space. Ideal for bringing a modern flair while staying true to Period designs.
