How Burnished Brass is made

As the name suggests, Burnished Brass hardware is crafted from solid brass, offering the weight and durability you’d expect of From The Anvil. Hot forging techniques are used to shape the metal before it undergoes an accelerated ageing process, which causes a dark patina to develop across the surface. Barrelling machines are then used to create the burnished effect.

Each piece is then coated in a high-quality, clear matt lacquer which preserves the finish, ensuring it remains beautiful for years to come.

How to Style Burnished Brass

One of the defining features of Burnished Brass is its versatility. This is a finish that can be used with a wide range of colour schemes and interior styles.

For example, Burnished Brass cabinet knobs are the perfect addition to a country kitchen, where their dark patina will emphasise oak, slate and other organic materials. Bursts of green will further complement this look and can be implemented with cushions, lighting, and even some foliage.

Burnished Brass can also be used to create a moody look by pairing it with deep, dramatic shades like brown, grey, and black.

How to Maintain Burnished Brass

While the high-quality matt lacquer serves to protect this finish, there are a couple of extra steps you can take to maximise your product’s lifespan.

Firstly, avoid using any harsh chemicals or cleaning products on Burnished Brass as they may damage the lacquer. When cleaning your hardware, we instead recommend using a clean, microfibre cloth and wiping the product with a wax-based furniture polish like From The Anvil’s Maintenance Wax.

Secondly, we recommend regularly oiling all moving parts of your product with 3-in-1 Oil to keep it moving smoothly and prevent stiffness. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation.
