From The Anvil's Polished Brass products are forged from solid, unlacquered brass which undergoes extensive polishing to give its bright, reflective appearance. Polished Brass hardware is an excellent choice for traditional properties, but can also be used to add a luxury touch to more modern interiors. Because our Polished Brass products are unlacquered, they will naturally age through oxidisation to give a subtle patina and add an abundance of character.

Polished Brass products are forged from solid, unlacquered brass and extensively polished to achieve a bright and reflective shine.

Because our Polished Brass is unlacquered, it's referred to as a living finish, meaning it will oxidise over time, developing a dark patina. If this is not to your liking, you can restore the bright shine of the brass using a bit of Brasso polish on a soft cloth.
Can I use Polished Brass products externally?

Of course! Polished Brass products are suitable for use both inside and outside the home. Just be aware that Polished Brass will tarnish more quickly when used externally, so will require more regular polishing to maintain its bright shine.
How do I maintain my Polished Brass products?

Because our Polished Brass is unlacquered, it will oxidise over time, developing a dark patina. While many people love the character this adds to our products, it's easy to restore the bright shine of Polished Brass if desired. Simply use a soft cloth with some Brasso polish and gently buff the product to remove the tarnish.
